My last post (on January 1st) was a little wordy and I’ve had a few people contact me regarding my lack of blogging. I thought I’d add a short and sweet message to this blog to make sure you know how to access my NEW BLOG! :)

Here is the url:

I’d love for you to stop by and say hello!

2011 {changing it up}

January 1, 2011

Hello There…

It’s JANUARY 1ST and I am making some blog changes around here. I realized that my blog really doesn’t have a name, and I’d like to change that. So what better time to start than the first day of a NEW YEAR.

I spent more hours than I’d like to admit last night playing around with new blog names and looks…and I’m pretty excited about what I’ve come up with!

Inspired by this blog (and consequently this one), I’ve decided on a word for 2011:

There are a lot of things in life to be delighted by. Sometimes it feels like the struggles take over, but I am inspired by the following verse to put my energy and focus into being thankful for all that delights me in life – and to be thankful for God who delights in his children: “He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me” {Psalm 18:19}.

While I was playing with a few names I liked, I accidentally pressed the “submit” button, and in a matter of seconds my new blog was up and running without me even realizing it.  Good thing it was the name I was leaning toward, in a way it was kind of a relief that the decision was almost made for me because I could have sat for another hour without making a choice.  The name kind of chose me and I am delighted (no pun intended) to reveal my NEW BLOG:

All of my past blog posts from here have already been transferred to my new blog. So come on in and take a look! :)

Christmas Recap

December 30, 2010

I started off the month so strong. I was inspired by the Beauty Collective project over at the Ten on Ten blog.

And then

the craziness began!

The days leading up to Christmas were filled with gift buying and wrapping, envelope stuffing and addressing, house cleaning, cookie baking and delivering (and let’s be honest, lots of cookie eating)…

I’m sure you can relate :)

Then I embarked on a hosting extravaganza – starting with my childhood friends coming over for appetizers, Christmas eve with Josh’s family, and finally Christmas dinner with mine!

Then I spent two days in Seattle with my immediate family and my mom’s cousin Catherine, her husband David and daughter Caitlin. Highlights of those fun days included the HARRY POTTER EXHIBIT (absolutely wonderful), the gingerbread houses displayed at the Sheraton downtown, and lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe (really good food and fun atmosphere).

Many more fun things have happened as well but I won’t bore you with all the details…just thought I should give an account for my extended blog-vacation…

Now that the Christmas dust has settled I’ve been in recuperation mode the past couple of days. I’ve got all the holiday decor taken down and organized for next year. Wrapping paper and a few holiday gifts have been purchased and tucked away as well.

And now I’m finally sitting down to upload my photos from the past couple of weeks, check my email, and clearly update my blog. After this though I’ve got to force myself to jump back into reality and GET MY HOMEWORK DONE! There’s only two months left in my master’s program…so I’ve just got to push through and finish strong!

Here are the photos I meant to post for the beauty collective project.  They didn’t quite make it through the full month of December so I just made some simple collages with them and thought I’d at least post some of the beauty I managed to capture with my camera this month:

So there you have it.  A few beautiful highlights from my Christmas 2010.

I can’t believe there’s only 2 days left of this year…and then it’s 2011.  CRAZY!

.     .     .

My goal is to have my homework done by tomorrow at lunch time (wish me luck)…

December 24, 2010

As you can tell, I have been thoroughly enjoying my vacation so far, and haven’t really been online much which has been kind of nice. I have been taking some photos of the beauty around us during this festive time of year and will continue taking pictures as I enjoy time with family both tonight and tomorrow.

Here’s to a very Merry Christmas indeed!  I’m thinking I’ll be back around the 27th…once things settle down around here. But for now I’m off to go host the holidays with both sides of our family.

CHEERS!!! :)

December 17, 2010

I am exhausted.  It’s finally Christmas break and all the things I’ve put off until “break” are waiting for me.  For tonight I’ve got a date with the couch but in the morning it will be time to get to work.

So for the next 12 hours…I’m enjoying an evening of relaxing before the fun begins.
